Colorado earns an ‘A’ when it comes to business friendliness

The recently-released results of a survey involving more than 12,000 small business owners from around the country suggest that Colorado is one of the best states in the nation for small businesses.

The state earned an “A” for overall friendliness to business in the Small Business Friendliness Survey, which was sponsored by the websiteThumbtack.com and the non-profit Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

A chief economist with Thumbtack.com said the results show that “Colorado has emerged as one of the best places for small firms to operate in the country.”

The chief economist added that “[c]reating a business climate that is welcoming to small, dynamic businesses is more important than ever, and Colorado’s city and state governments are clearly taking that challenge very seriously.”

The survey ranked Colorado as seventh in the country overall for business friendliness. Its highest grade was earned in the “ease of hiring new workers” category, while the lowest grades came in the labor laws and zoning regulations categories.

It’s great to hear that the state of Colorado is being recognized for its friendliness toward small businesses and it’s no wonder why so many entrepreneurs and venture capitalists are choosing to do business in the state.

But even though many of the state’s rules and regulations are seen as business-friendly, they can still be extremely complex. Matters including starting a business, growing a business and selling a business all have legal consequences that must be handled with care.

That’s why it’s essential for Colorado small business owners to seek the guidance of an experienced attorney for all of their business law needs. Whether it involves setting a contract dispute with an employee or registering a business in a foreign jurisdiction, our firm can help.
